Zimo is an employee benefits brokerage that specializes in supplemental disability programs. We partner with large employers to design, implement, and administer customized solutions that help protect one of our most valuable assets: our income.

What is a supplemental disability program?

Supplemental disability programs give employees an opportunity to protect more of their income if they are unable to work due to an injury or illness.

A supplemental disability program works together with an employer’s Long Term Disability (LTD) plan to provide comprehensive income protection.

Why may employees need supplemental disability?

Employees need adequate disability insurance to maintain their financial wellness, or that of their family, if the unexpected occurs. During their working years, an individual is 4x more likely to be disabled than to die prematurely. 1

While an employer’s Long Term Disability (LTD) plan provides an important foundation, it may not be enough. Supplemental disability programs allow employees to protect a higher percentage of their income, which can include bonus or other incentives that their lifestyle may depend on.

Why do employers offer supplemental disability?

A comprehensive disability package is key to an employer’s financial wellness strategy as it protects the income that fuels employees' savings, investments, and retirement goals.

The value of a supplemental disability program lies not only in the product but also in the process. The product offers buying advantages that employees only have access to through the workplace. The process educates employees about their existing benefits, helps them assess risk, and empowers them to take action toward building financial stability. The result is improved morale, which increases retention and creates a competitive edge.
